We use the “hands up” feature on Zoom to make sure everyone gets a chance to speak, or you can add thoughts to the meeting chat.

Zoom has closed captions, and we aim to share any activity instructions in the text chat or on screen for those who find written information easier to digest.

Please do let us know if there are other accessibility requirements we can help with. We’re a small group of hobbyists, but we want to make sure no one is excluded.

Because we are all primarily English speakers, we are only able to work with writing in the English language.

Reading aloud

During meetings we typically read our creative writing pieces aloud before discussion and feedback. We also aim to make sure the pieces are available beforehand for meeting attendees so that everyone has time to read the pieces alone if they want to.

We know that not everyone finds it easy to read aloud, and we don’t want this to stop anyone feeling like they can share their writing with the group. Usually there will be at least one meeting attendee who is happy to read aloud on your behalf - just ask in the meeting when it’s your turn to present your writing.
